Motec Life-UK
has a number of projects that are intended to help improve
hospital and public health based care of underprivileged
patients in the target hospitals and health care training
institutions in sub-Saharan Africa especially Ghana. Motec
runs educational and training programmes in addition to the
direct health care activities in sub-Saharan Africa in order
to help sustain health care improvements. Our organisation
is co-operating with health authorities to ensure that as
many health care workers and trainers within a reasonable
distance from our main target hospitals join us in our
educational drive at local, district, regional and national
levels in Ghana and elsewhere in the sub-region. To sustain
the programme, volunteers have to deliver the intended
services at the target hospitals and health education
institutions. This involves provision of air tickets,
medical materials including equipment, public address system
to run audio-visual educational programmes and paying for
freight of donated and purchased medical materials.
To achieve our
objectives, funding is an important issue to be addressed.
Motec Life-UK currently runs on a budget that is supported
by the public and the membership through fund raising
activities, subscriptions, and sacrifices by its members who
take their annual leave for the voluntary work, travel
around to meetings and collect donated materials at their
own expense. We enjoy some support from British Companies,
and receive donations from members of the British and
Ghanaian public and a consortium of patrons led by Prof Lord
David Alton.
The
sustainability of our projects is on the brink of failure
and only the courage of the membership and the public has
kept the organisation going. All the necessary steps for
charity status have been taken. A responsible Trustee
Executive runs the organisation and a supporting membership.
Personnel experienced with accounting look after our
organisation’s account. We are not only accountable to our
membership, but also to the Charity Commission of England
and Wales.
Motec would
like to appeal to members of the public, philanthropists,
companies, business executives, International Organisations,
Churches, Charitable Clubs, International Airlines,
Governments and Non-Governmental Institutions, the Private
Sector to support her with donations of money, equipment,
sponsorship of projects and individuals (please see website
section on projects).
Only your support can keep the flame of hope alive for many
in sub-Saharan Africa.
