Map of Ghana   The team returns from Ghana

Dear All,

1)The Motec team of seven have returned from Ghana on 11th February following a two week intensive working visit. The team's activities this time round provided orthopaedic trauma services in Accra and Koforidua and gave 1 hour morning lectures each working day at St Joseph's Hospital as well as audio visual presentation at the Conference Centre at Koforidua Central Hospital.

2)Requests for help from two other hospitals, Holy Family Hospital, Nkawkaw and St Michael Hospital. Pramso near Kumasi, the Garden City of Ghana have been assessed and final decisions will be taken at our next meeting.

3) Motec is in discussion with The Regional Hospital, Koforidua (Central) to organise training for Physiotherapist at Koforidua. This followed a request from the Medical Superintendant of the hospital.

4) Motec welcomes many more members from London, West Herts, West Middlesex. We now have strength and depth to cope with the demands from Ghana.

5)Meeting of Motec Planned for 1:15pm prompt, Sunday 25th of February at the post-graduate centre at Hemel Hempstead General Hospital. All members are encouraged to attend. Do kindly leave a note on your car or be directed to park at Iceland car park. The agenda will be forwarded to members in due course.

6) Fund Raising: We are considering various fund raising activities to cover cost of courses, theatre equipment, flight etc and members are encouraged to solicit for funds in consultation with the Trustees of our organisation.

7) Well done TO THE MEMBERS of the team who have concluded a very memorable working visit to Ghana. The feedback from the hospitals in Ghana indicate that Motec is very well liked by all. Our "strategy and general approach" has been described as methodical, purposeful and unique.

Cheerio for now.

P. Ofori-Atta President
