News A Kelly Purposeful Fun Night About six months ago, the Kelly couple (Charles and Carole) promised to organize a charity quiz night in support of the recovery ward project of Motec. Prior to the September event, the Kelly family organized a weeklong programme of fund raising activities including their daughter’s bicycle ride. They finally did it in style on Saturday night 29th September at the magnificent Adventure Castle, Hertford. The event had a beautiful mix of programme including a series of varied quiz – some geographical, historical, famous persons, and musical, led by the un-tiring Carole. Charlie was at his best as the DJ at musical quiz that kept participants listening intently for clues and enjoying the rhythms at the same time. The fun was punctuated by a sumptuous two-course meal that catered for all tastes, watered down by an excellent variety of drinks. A raffle organised by the couple had many people walking away with attractive prizes including photo-studio opportunities, golf course work out, gift vouchers, top quality wines and token prizes. The emotional moment of the night was captured on camera when the Motec President, Mr Ofori-Atta was called to pick the first prize ticket from under the nose of an African lion and he went on to pick it from a big sac. It turned out to be one of his tickets. Mr Ofori-Atta put the £150 cash prize back into the night’s fund. In a short speech, he spoke about the difficulties encountered at the target hospitals in Ghana and the inadequacy of theatre recovery ward facilities beyond the beds that we all have in our homes. Over one hundred people including friends of the Kelly’s, Motec surgeons and their families –Ofori-Atta, Raymond and Harish Parmar, attended the event. The occasion realized £1745.20 which was presented to Motec President handsomely by Mr Charles Kelly. Motec Life UK wishes to express its profound gratitude to all the participants especially the Kelly family and their supporting workers for the magnificent night and contribution to Motec. What a wonderful night!
